Weather Helping Firefight On Massive Blazes

Cooler temperatures and higher humidity provided a break for thousands of wildland firefighters on the huge fire complexes in the mountains of the Klamath and Six Rivers National Forests. The Eclipse Complex of three fires west of Happy Camp are raging, now at more than 96,400 acres, with 22% overall containment. The five fires of the Salmon Complex in the Marble Mountains west of Etna have burned around 65,200 acres with overall containment of 14%. 13 of the 19 fires have been contained in the Orleans Complex in the Six Rivers National Forest. The remaining 6 fires continue to expand, though. The complex covers a combined 26,500 acres, still with overall containment of 53%.
