Containment Grows On Helena Fire

Fire crews in Trinity County are in the patrol and contain mode as they continue to extinguish hot spots near homes in the Helena Fire zone. Many residents are still evacuated as burning material is still rolling down steep slopes, making it a very dangerous situation. The 17,570 acre Helena Fire is being managed along with the 3500 acre Fork Fire, which is burning in the Trinity Alps Wilderness. Overall containment of the two fires is 53%. Highway 299 traffic is being guided through the fire zone with pilot cars 24 hours a day, with delays of about a half hour.
