APD Officers Recover Vehicle Stolen At Baby Shower

Anderson Police recovered two stolen cars Saturday night. A little before 7PM a woman was at a church in Anderson for her baby shower and when she came out her car was gone. She told the responding APD Officer that the car came with a tracking device, so the device company was contacted and they started looking for it.At 11:40PM the company located the car parked on Westwood Avenue in Redding. RPD Officers got there a few minutes later but the car was already on its way to Happy Valley. The car continued to be tracked down Happy Valley Road and then into Olinda Road toward Anderson. It was intercepted near Erma Road by Anderson Police and Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies. 19-year-old Kyle Daniel Thompson eventually admitted he had stolen the car, according to police, who say he showed a little bit of remorse when told he had taken it from a pregnant woman at her baby shower.

While officers were finishing up that investigation, another car was reported stolen from Mill Street. A responding officer saw the car turning onto East Center Street and pulled it over. It was being driven by the owner’s daughter, 18-year-old Holly Barfoot, who said she took the car because she was cold. She was booked into jail.
