Deputies Say Intoxicated Boater Crashed Into Land Bridge

A woman was arrested after crashing a boat on Lake Shasta. At 9 O’clock Saturday night boating deputies, who are stationed at Bridge Bay, watched as a boat approached going at least 25 miles an hour in the dark. It was traveling between Bridge Bay and nearby Beaver Island but they apparently didn’t see the exposed land bridge sticking up out of the water and the boat ran aground. There were three people in the boat and none of them were hurt. Deputies say Lorie Garey admitted that she had been the driver, and that she had been drinking. She was booked into jail for boating under the influence.
