A fire near homes off of Old Oregon Trail was quickly contained Friday morning by a combination of Cal-Fire and Redding Firefighters. It was located just outside city limits on Der Kinder Way. Redding Battalion Chief Rob Pitt says the fire was pretty easy because it was surrounded on two sides by driveways and close cropped grass on the others. It burned about a quarter acre of vegetation and various equipment and materials stored in the yard.
