REU Says Solar Energy Scam Is Targeting Customers

There’s a door-to-door solar energy scam going around Redding. Redding Electric Utility says they’ve gotten reports that people dressed in REU attire or wearing REU pins have been going door-to-door offering solar systems for sale. Most of the reports have come from the Silver Creek and Carriage Glen neighborhoods in the southeast part of town. REU does not does not sell solar systems and they don’t go door-to-door trying to sell anything. There are rebate vouchers available through the end of the month to help with the cost of solar systems, but those are highly sought after and no sales pitch is needed. Information on the vouchers is at reupower.com or 339-7200.  That’s also the number to call to report REU staff impersonators, about whom REU is eager to know.
