Nevada Man Facing Attempted Murder Charges Found Guilty By Shasta County Jury

A convicted felon wanted for the attempted murder of his brother in Nevada has been convicted on weapons charges. On July 21st Redding’s Neighborhood Police Unit was about to serve a search warrant for drugs and guns at a Boulder Creek Drive apartment when they saw several people on their way out. One of them was Rene Harris and a few blocks away officers stopped him at gunpoint. He at first ignored their commands to stop but then complied when backup officers arrived. A 38 caliber revolver and a Glock 40 caliber handgun were found in a suitcase that Harris had been wheeling along behind him. With a prior strike conviction for armed robbery, Harris was forbidden from having guns. A jury found him guilty Thursday after a 2 day trial. Harris is awaiting extradition to Las Vegas, where he’s accused of shooting his brother in the back.
