Continuous One-Way Traffic Control Underway Through Helena Fire Zone

Traffic restrictions have opened up quite a bit on Highway 299 through the Helena Fire zone in Trinity County. Cal-Trans is now running one way traffic control 24 hours a day 7 days a week until further notice. Cal-Trans crews still have a lot of work to do in the fire ravaged area. They’re working as fast as they can clearing debris, replacing damaged guard rails and culverts, knocking down hazardous trees and rocks from hillsides and generally bringing the road up to standards. All of this work is being done with the coming winter breathing down their necks because it’s essential that the work be done before heavy rains start.
