New Police Chief Apprehends Alleged Bank Robber

Redding Police Chief Roger Moore can do it all, apparently. The chief has a long list of responsibilities on his job description. Catching bank robbery suspects is not one of them, but that’s what he did Monday. At 11:15AM Monday morning there was a 9-1-1 call from Redding Bank of Commerce Downtown at Placer and East Streets. A teller said that a man handed her a note and demanded money. She gave a very good description of the suspect, which was relayed to patrol officers. Chief Moore heard the bulletin too, and he spotted a man matching the description walking on South Street west of the Railroad Tracks. He and backup officers arrested 48-year-old Hom Lotakoon, a homeless Redding man who’s on parole for arson. During questioning he reportedly admitted to the bank robbery. The chief then presumably returned to his boring job behind a desk at city hall.
