Two Men Killed By Trains Within Hours In Cottonwood And Anderson

Following a death by train in Anderson Sunday night, another man was killed by a train in Cottonwood Monday morning. The second victim was struck at 5:35AM near the Front Street railroad crossing in Cottonwood. The Shasta County Coroner’s Office is trying to identify the victim, who is reportedly an adult male.

At 11:20PM Sunday night the conductor and engineer of a Union Pacific train saw the man lying on the tracks near the intersection of North Street and Highway 273, but they apparently couldn’t stop in time. Anderson Police determined the man was deceased and called the coroner’s office just after Midnight. The man’s identity has not been determined. The Highway 273 intersections with North and South Streets were closed until almost 4AM.
