An armed fugitive sought by the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office for an incident Tuesday morning involving shots fired ended up becoming a prisoner of his own device. 37-year-old Ian Michael Gonzales allegedly was in an altercation with his ex girlfriend on Highway 36 in Tehama County during which he fired rounds from a handgun and a long rifle. The long gun was initially believed to be an AR-15 but apparently that was not the case. Officials say nobody was hit by the gunfire. Gonzales fled the scene of the conflict in a pickup and Northstate law enforcement was on edge as they kept an eye out for Gonzales, who was said to be a potential armed threat to law enforcement officers. Tuesday afternoon Gonzales was spotted in Nevada County and led a pursuit by several agencies. The chase ended when Gonzales crashed the pickup and was trapped inside, requiring extrication.
