Cal-Fire Expected To Lift Burn Ban Saturday, RFD On Monday

The suspension of agricultural and residential burning will be lifted Saturday in Cal-Fire’s Shasta-Trinity Unit, as well as the Tehama-Glenn Unit. However, permits are still required until the declared end of fire season. The cities of Redding and Anderson will lift their bans on backyard burning on Monday. Redding residents must obtain a permit from city hall or reddingfire.org. The good news is, the Redding permits are now free. A permit must be in hand while burning, though, or a citation may be issued. When burning, the ground should be scraped to the dirt ten feet around. A shovel and water supply should always be at hand. Burn piles cannot be left unattended, and they can be no larger than 4 feet wide and 4 feet high. Shasta County burn day information is available by calling 224-8777.  Tehama County burn day status is available by calling 527-3717. In Glenn County it’s (800) 446-2876. Information on safe burning is at fire.ca.gov.
