Anderson Police Raising Money For Cancer Research

Who ever heard of a police officer with a beard? Anderson Police Department, that’s who. The APD is participating in “No Shave November”, a national campaign in which men stop shaving all month and donate to cancer research what they would have spent on razors. That will include the entire Anderson Police Department, including patrol cops. The department has launched their own campaign and they’re calling it “Badges with Beards”. A few years ago the APD sort of adopted a boy named Jerry, who has Retinoblastoma, a cancer of the eyes. For their campaign, the department is promoting two fundraising avenues, one of them that directly benefits Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital another directly goes to Jerry’s medical expenses. Donations can be made in honor of a specific officer or cancer survivor. Also, a fundraising night will be held November 20th at Players Pizza in Anderson.
