Norteno Gang Members Sentenced For 2014 Murders

Three Corning men have been sentenced after pleading guilty to a pair of murders. In July of 2014 Walter Dani was killed by a shotgun blast to the head. The 24-year-old man’s body was found in front of the Crossroads Market in Gerber. He had been killed in the presence of his wife and two children. 24-year-old Poly Duenas Sanchez was arrested the following day. The day after that 24-year-old Lucio Madera was arrested. The murder weapon was found, as well as the vehicle used. A week and a half later Lucio’s twin brother Gabino Madera was arrested at a house on Woodson Avenue in Corning. The 3 men have been in Tehama County Jail ever since awaiting court. Meanwhile the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office had been investigating the murder of 21-year-old Marat Magdeev, a Chico marijuana dealer. His burned body was found in May of 2014 in an orchard near Hamilton City. Eventually it was determined that Magdeev had been invited to the home of Sanchez, who killed him with the help of Gabino Madera. The pair has each been sentenced to 35 years to life in state prison.  Lucio has been sentenced to 22 years in prison. Prosecutors believe that both murders were committed after disputed drug deals. Sanchez’s cell mate at the Tehama County Jail turned out to be an informant after Sanchez shared with him all the details of the Magdeev killing. The Tehama County D.A.’s Office says all three men are affiliated with the Nortenos Gang.
