State Christmas Tree To Be Cut Near Whitmore

The official California state Christmas tree to be displayed at the capitol will be felled Tuesday near Whitmore. It’s a tradition several years running to harvest the state tree from the Latour State Forest. It’ll be cut down at 11 O’clock Tuesday and carried by truck through Whitmore just like thousands of other trees, but this one’s not going to the mill. This 65-foot White Fir will head to Sacramento to be set up on the west lawn of the capitol. It’ll be decked with 10,000 LED bulbs and ornaments handmade by disabled clients of the State Developmental Services Department.
