Sheriff’s K9 Helps Apprehend Cottonwood Man

A wanted man in Cottonwood couldn’t hide from Blitz the Shasta County Sheriff’s K-9. At 3:30PM Saturday afternoon deputies on patrol were near Main and Third Street when they spotted Luis Javier Ayala. The 36-year-old had 5 active arrest warrants including 4 felonies and has been convicted in several cases but then failed to show up for sentencing. Ayala was on foot but by the time the deputies got to the corner he had fled down Third to Brush Street. A perimeter was set up with help from Anderson Police and a CHP helicopter. During a search of the area Blitz the K-9 tracked down Ayala in the backyard of a house on Brush Street and captured him. Ayala was treated at a hospital for his dog bites and booked into jail for his warrants and resisting arrest.
