K-9 Helps Officers Arrest Suspected Car Thief In North Redding

A Redding man has been arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle for the fifth time since July. At 4 O’clock Friday afternoon an officer on patrol on Twin View Boulevard near Poppy Hills Road became suspicious when a Honda Accord sped away from him. He tried to catch up to the car, but it went off road into a large wooded area and the male driver and female passenger got out and ran. The Accord had been stolen and in the back was a 70CC mini dirt bike that had been stolen from tractor supply the previous night. A search was done using two K-9s and 49-year-old Roy Earl Prior was found in a nearby creekbed. While awaiting court action on his previous 4 stolen vehicle arrests, prior had been released from jail on his own recognizance. He was wearing a GPS ankle monitor that had gone dead because prior never recharged it. He’s being held without bail.
