An effort to recall a pair of Redding City Council members comes down to Tuesday. 5 O’clock Tuesday afternoon is the deadline for signatures to be turned in from a petition to recall council members Francie Sullivan and Kristen Schreder. Nearly 9900 signatures are needed to get the recall question onto a ballot. A special election would have to be held, likely in the Spring. Supporters of the recall say it’s due to an increase in crime in Redding and the council’s lackluster response. The group has not said why they targeted Sullivan and Schreder in particular. Although some of the organizers presumably have an idea of how many signatures have been gathered, they’ve kept it a closely guarded secret that only will be revealed when City Clerk Pamela Mize and her staff finish counting them.
