Corning Lawyer Accused Of Bribing Witness

A lawyer in Corning has been arrested after the Tehama County District Attorney’s Office accused him of trying to bribe the victim of one of his clients. The D.A’s Office has been investigating 49-year-old Roland Bennett for about a year. Officials are not saying what the criminal case was about or the name of the defendant. Bennett allegedly approached the victim in his client’s felony case and offered to pay him to refuse cooperation with the prosecution and to not appear in court. Bennett was arrested on Saturday and booked into jail for felony conspiracy and a felony charge of bribing a witness. Bennett posted his $50,000 bail and was released.
