Downtown Redding To Host Annual Christmas Parade

The 35th annual lighted Christmas parade is Saturday in Downtown Redding. The parade begins at 6PM rain or shine and is expected to wrap up about 9. The route remains the same as in previous years, starting at the intersection of California and Tehama Streets. The route will continue south on California and then turn east on Sacramento, north on Pine, and east on Yuba. It will conclude at East Street. Portions of Oregon, Butte, Tehama and California Streets will close at 4PM to allow for staging of parade entries. The parade route will close at 5. Parking will not be allowed on the parade route and no parking zones will be in effect several days before the parade. Any vehicles parked on the route must be moved by 3 O’clock Saturday or they will be towed. The parade is organized by the Active 20-30 Club of Redding. This year’s Grand Marshals are the Araizas. Dan and Donna Araiza have helped more than 200 families with more than a Million Dollars in support in the last 15 years since the death of their daughter inspired them to start “Alyssa’s Wings of Angels”. Kelly Frost Sr. and Steve Gibson will man the announcer booth at Foundry Square on California Street.
