Law enforcement could get stealthy if the Redding Police Department gets a small fleet of drones. At Tuesday night’s meeting of the Redding City Council, the city will be offered a $25,000 grant from Bethel Church to fund the purchase of three drones, as well as the necessary equipment and extensive training for the officers who will be operating the machines. Police drones would reduce the department’s dependence on the CHP for air support, and would allow officers to view areas that are either impossible or unsafe for human access.
