Husband Arrested After Allegedly Sexually Assaulting Wife

CHP dispatchers were able to guide Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies to a domestic violence call, even though the cell phone 9-1-1 call got cut off. At 3:18PM Monday afternoon a woman called screaming for help and pleading with her attacker to stop choking her before the call was dropped.  Deputies responded to an approximate location on Thumper Drive in Shingletown. As they got close the woman called back and gave her address. The house was surrounded and a woman came out carrying a baby. She said she had been beaten and sexually assaulted by her husband, 35-year-old Joshua Levi, who was still inside. After using their P.A. to call Levi out of the house, deputies approached. A protective Pit Bull was just inside the door and it reportedly turned on one of the deputies and was shot. The house was searched but Levi was not found until a hidden door was discovered on the floor of a bedroom closet. It opened onto a small room with several marijuana plants, as well as a crawl space. Levi was not in the room so Thor the K-9 was sent into the crawl space. Levi was hiding under a piece of insulation. Thor dragged him out to the waiting deputies. After stopping at a hospital, Levi was booked into jail.
