CHP Will Be Targeting Speeders Over Christmas Weekend

A special effort by the California Highway Patrol over this long Christmas weekend will focus on slowing down the flow of traffic. A “maximum enforcement period” begins at 6 O’clock Friday night and lasts through Midnight on Christmas Monday. Speed limit enforcement will be the goal, but CHP drug recognition experts will also be combing the roads for impaired drivers. During the maximum enforcement period last Christmas there were 16 people killed in CHP jurisdiction and half of them were not wearing a seatbelt, so that’s another major focus this weekend.
