RPD Cites Several People During Minor Alcohol Sting

A convicted sex offender was cited and released after agreeing to purchase alcohol for a minor as part of a shoulder tap operation done by Redding Police Wednesday. Officers and California Alcoholic Beverage Control Agents visited 34 businesses during the operation. Police say that two clerks agreed to sell alcohol to the minor decoy. At the Chevron Station on East Cypress Avenue, 27-year-old Kristen Olivia Holmes was cited after allegedly agreeing to sale alcohol to the decoy. 59-year-old John Russell Simon was also cited at the Valero Station on Shasta Street. As part of a shoulder tap operation minors contacted several people outside of various businesses and asked them to buy them alcohol. 35-year-old Tiffany Jadene Perry cited and released after allegedly buying beer for two minors. She had multiple warrants for her arrest. 26-year-old Terry Michael Thompson Jr, who is a convicted sex offender, apparently agreed to buy alcohol and was cited and released. Police say he was found to be in possession of a Meth pipe.16 other people were cited for possession of open containers when officers swept through Library Park, Parkview Park, Caldwell Park, and South City Park. Officers report making two other arrests for outstanding warrants.
