Police: Man On The Way To Sell Pot Arrested After Asking For Directions

Anderson Police say a man asked them for directions on his way to sell a large amount of marijuana. At 1:45AM Tuesday morning two officers were stopped near North and Church Streets when a black BMW came toward them. The driver parked in front of a fire hydrant and walked over to the officers in their patrol cars. 40-year-old Chris Meng Lee of Redding asked for directions to a mobile home park near the intersection of two streets that don’t actually intersect. The officers thought lee was acting strangely so they asked if they could search his car. He consented and they reportedly found a pound and a half of marijuana in the trunk. It’s illegal to transport that much marijuana without a license. They also reported finding a loaded gun in the driver’s side door, which lee is prohibited from possessing due to a prior felony record. When they asked if they could look at Lee’s cell phone, he apparently gave permission for that as well. It showed text messages indicating that Lee had gotten lost while on his way to sell the marijuana that was in the trunk. He also had no driver’s license. Lee was booked into jail on several charges.
