A former fire chief for the town of McCloud is being investigated for sexual improprieties with an underage girl, according to the Siskiyou Daily News. The sheriff’s office apparently has been investigating the allegations against Rick Dexter since they received a report last May. The report alleged that Dexter had been sending inappropriate text messages to the girl. Dexter later resigned from the chief position as the sheriff’s major crimes unit continued to uncover additional allegations. The district attorney’s office has recommended charges including solicitation of a minor for sex and sending obscene or annoying electronic messages.
