RPD: Officers Fight With Man After He Points Water Bottle At Them

A man was arrested after fighting with officers who say he pointed a water bottle at them to make it look like a gun, according to Redding Police. At about 7:40PM Thursday night officers were called to check on a suspicious person behind Lowes on East Cypress Avenue. When officers approached 29-year-old Luke Salyers, he apparently immediately stood up and began acting strange. Police say he was making incoherent statements and became aggressive towards them. Salyers apparently told one of the officers he had a gun and began walking away towards a wooded area behind the store. Other officers arrived and tried to contact him again, but at one point police say he charged at them. Police say he even took a shooting stance with a water bottle in his hand. Officers tazed Salyer, but it was ineffective so they tackled him and he continued to fight with them. He was eventually taken into custody and booked into the Shasta County Jail.
