Police Recover Stolen Cell Phone In Corning

Corning Police were able to recover a stolen cell phone by using the phones tracking device. Officers were called to Butte Street and Fairview Avenue by Samantha Martinez who reported her iPhone X and backpack had been stolen from an unlocked vehicle. Martinez told officers that she was able to ping her phone and had a general idea of where it was. Officers followed the signal and found Derek Gullotto near Yost Park. He apparently admitted to stealing the phone and the backpack, and said he had thrown the phone before officers arrived. Officers returned the items, but the phone was damaged when Gullotto threw it. Gullatto was booked into the Tehama County Jail.
