Man Who Fell Asleep At Pick-N-Pull Arrested For Trespassing

A Shasta County Sheriff’s Office K9 took a stint as a junkyard dog Tuesday night. Shortly before 11 O’clock the manager of Pick-N-Pull on Viking Way reported seeing an intruder in the yard on his security cameras. The wrecking yard is surrounded by a solid 12-foot fence topped with razor wire. Deputies arrived and the manager let them into the yard as a CHP helicopter spotlighted from above. Fritz the K9 was let loose to search the large area and at the far end of the yard he tracked down 41-year-old Andrew Thomas Jarrett hiding under a piece of heavy equipment. He was ordered out and he complied. He was wearing all black clothing and gloves. He said he had gone into the yard in the daytime when it was open for business and fell asleep inside one of the junked cars, then awoke after closing time. He admitted to searching through many of the vehicles and running when deputies arrived. He was arrested for trespassing and prowling.
