Harley Rider Killed In Crash On Keswick Dam Road

A motorcyclist was killed and his passenger was seriously injured in a crash west of Redding Sunday afternoon. At around 3:30PM a 2005 Harley Davidson driven by a 33-year-old man was westbound on Keswick Dam Road west of Quartz Hill when he was unable to negotiate a curve in the road and laid the big bike down, according to the CHP. The motorcycle, the man, and the passenger, a 36-year-old woman, all slid into the eastbound lane. Meanwhile, a Volkswagon Tiguan was coming the other way. When the 41-year-old driver came around the corner and saw the crash, she tried to swerve to the right and avoid hitting the people, but instead the Volkswagon went right over the top of them, trapping both of them underneath. When rescue personnel extricated them from under the SUV, the man was already dead. The woman was transported to Mercy Medical Center with major injuries. The Volkswagon driver and her 8-year-old passenger were not injured.
