Man Found Guilty Of DUI Crash On South Bonnyview

A jury has found a man guilty of drunk driving from a mess he got himself into a year ago. It was 1:50AM on January 29th of last year when David Richard Holcombe was westbound on South Bonnyview Road when he lost control while crossing the Sacramento River. His car side-swiped the bridge rail and came to a stop straddling the curb just west of the bridge. Holcombe tried to keep driving but he couldn’t get his right-side wheels up and over the curb. He was still trying when two CHP Officers came along. They believed Holcombe was drunk, so they called Redding Police to the scene. When Holcombe arrived at the Shasta County Jail he still had a blood alcohol level of .20. He has a prior DUI conviction from 10 years ago. He’ll be sentenced this Friday.
