Child Molester Takes Plea Deal, Faces 11 Years In Prison

A 20-year-old child molester from Anderson has made a plea deal with prosecutors. Clarence Richard Williams was using an assumed name while communicating with a 13-year-old girl on social media. He eventually convinced her to meet with him, and he sexually assaulted her. After that Williams continued communicating with the girl, and tried to make contact with her 10-year-old friend. In a separate case Williams befriended a 12-year-old girl who attended church with him. He tricked the girl into meeting him in a private room and sexually assaulted her. As part of his plea deal Williams entered guilty pleas Thursday to several charges. On March First, he’ll be sentenced to 11 years in state prison, and he must serve at least 85% of that before he’s eligible for early release. The Shasta County District Attorney’s Office says the case should be a warning to parents about how online communication can quickly escalate from harmless flirting to assault.
