Father Arrested After Allegedly Shooting Daughters Boyfriend

A man was shot in Red Bluff Sunday by his girlfriend’s angry father, according to the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office. It apparently happened at around 9:30AM in the morning at the entrance to the Red Bluff Diversion Dam. 75-year-old Earl Charles Lucero Jr. was arguing with 40-year-old Dale Thomas Barnhart. Lucero was reportedly angry about Barnhart physically abusing his adult daughter, with whom Barnhart is in a relationship. At some point in the argument, Lucero allegedly shot Barnhart in the lower abdomen with an unknown caliber gun.  Barnhart thought his wound was only minor and had a friend drive him to his home on Delphinium Court. He later realized how serious the wound was and called for an ambulance. His condition is not known. Lucero was questioned at his Manzanita Avenue home and then booked into jail for assault with a deadly weapon.
