Police: Teen Makes Up Story About Bringing Guns To School

A young teenager from Red Bluff is in trouble after apparently inventing an older brother with violent tendencies. Saturday evening Red Bluff Police were called to a home on Southridge Drive by the father of a 13-year-old girl. She said that she was participating in a group chat on Instagram when she got several text messages from a 16-year-old boy stating that he was going to bring guns to Vista School and that she was going to die along with others. The messages were traced to a 13-year-old Red Bluff boy who was also in the group chat. He said the threats were made by his older brother, who lived at an unknown area of Cottonwood. The boy’s parents were contacted and they said the boy did not have an older brother. When confronted again, the boy admitted he had made the threatening messages and created the fictitious 16-year-old. No guns were found at the boy’s home. Charges will be filed against the boy for making criminal threats and filing a false police report.
