Woman Arrested After Fire Leaves Man With Severe Burns

Red Bluff Police say a homeless woman tried to kill her boyfriend by setting fire to his tent. Friday morning Red Bluff Firefighters were sent to a fire in a field off Breckenridge Street. When they arrived they found the source of the smoke was a homeless camp on fire. It didn’t appear that any people were around. After the flames were extinguished the fire chief investigated and determined that the blaze had been intentionally set. Witnesses said that a man had been inside a tent at the camp when a woman had set it aflame, and that the man had suffered severe burns to his left hand and wrist. On Saturday the 36-year-old victim walked into the Red Bluff Police Department and said he was the man who had been in the tent. He went on to say his girlfriend, 24-year-old Fhileen Ruvalcaba, had started the fire because she thought he was having an affair. He told officers that Ruvalcapa could be found at a camp near Dog Island Park. Police took Ruvalcaba into custody and she apparently admitted to starting the fire. She was booked into jail for attempted murder, domestic violence and arson, with bail set at a Million Dollars.
