Man Captured After Search In Downtown Redding

A man who allegedly chased his girlfriend from Redding to Anderson was later captured Monday night. At 8:20PM a woman called 9-1-1 to say she was in the area of Highway 273 and Canyon Road trying to flee from 42-year-old Marty Dupree Hilliard, who was driving a 2014 Corvette. He was reportedly trying to block her way and continued chasing her into the City of Anderson. APD Officers spotted the two vehicles and tried to pull the Corvette over but it fled at high speed and got away. Redding Police determined the woman had been assaulted and threatened by Hilliard, who had allegedly been stalking her and was believed to be armed. At 10 O’clock, CHP Officers found the Corvette in the Sundial Bridge parking lot, but Hilliard was not around. The surrounding neighborhoods were canvassed and Hilliard was eventually spotted near Liberty and Trinity Streets by Officer Jason Rhoads, who told him to stop but Hilliard reportedly threw a garbage can at him and ran. With the help of a CHP helicopter, Hilliard was again spotted near East and Trinity Streets. Officer Rhoads caught up to him but he put up a fight until Otto the K9 showed up and got his jaws on him. After a stop at the hospital, Hilliard was booked into jail on multiple charges.
