A simple windshield repair became a fully engulfed vehicle fire off of Hilltop Drive Tuesday afternoon. Redding Fire was called a little after Noon to the Tri-Counties Bank parking lot. A Platinum Auto Glass repair tech was using a torch-like device to repair a chip in the windshield of a Ford Fusion when the dashboard caught fire. The flames quickly spread and by the time firefighters got there the car was an inferno. It was a total loss, with significant damage done to the Subaru Outback parked next to it as well.
