Cal Fire Employees Talk Woman Out Of Jumping Off Clear Creek Bridge

Authorities spent about two hours trying to talk a woman off the bridge over Clear Creek Gorge Friday morning. Just after 9AM a driver on Placer Road called to report the woman seated on the railing of the bridge, with her feet dangling over the creek hundreds of feet below. Sheriff’s deputies and CHP officers headed to the scene, but the woman said she would jump if she was approached by law enforcement. She did, however, allow a Cal-Fire employee to park near her and talk to her. Traffic in both directions on Placer Road was stopped as the Cal-Fire employee and the distraught woman had a lengthy conversation. After about two hours the woman fell over backwards from the railing and landed on her back on the road. She was evaluated at the scene by EMT’s and then transported to a hospital.
