Cal-Fire Begins Work On Firebreak Near Burney

Cal-Fire will begin a yearlong project Monday to construct a fuel break in the Burney area. A lot of trees and underbrush will be cut and then burned in approximately 500 piles on site. By next Spring, all combustible vegetation will be cleared from a 43 acre swath that stretches from the Cal-Fire station on Highway 299 to the north end of the Community of Johnson Park. The break will protect homes from the spread of potential future forest fires.
