Judge Deems Convicted Murder Sane

A 27-year-old Redding convicted killer faces a life sentence now that he’s been determined by the court to be sane. Cory Willyard was found guilty by a Shasta County Jury last week of first degree murder with a special allegation of lying in wait. In November of 2016 Corey Willyard stabbed 27-year-old Cody Graham to death in Graham’s driveway on Yogi Court off of White River Drive in North Redding. Witnesses identified Willyard as the killer and said he had fled on foot. Willyard later stole a car and was at large for several days until his capture in Bella Vista. He pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity and maintained that claim throughout the trial. Two psychologists were appointed by the court to evaluate Willyard. Tuesday a judge ruled that Willyard is sane. He faces life in prison without the possibility of parole when he’s sentenced on April 27th.
