Man With Airsoft Guns Causes Disturbance Downtown

There was a big police response in Downtown Redding Thursday morning for what turned out to be much ado about nothing. At around 10:30PM someone from the Shasta County Clerk’s Office at Market and Placer called the RPD to report that a man outside the office had set a pistol down on their windowsill. When officers arrived, the gun and the man were gone but a CHP helicopter crew spotted the man walking down Market at Tehama Street. Multiple officers swooped in and he was detained and searched. He was in possession of several impressive-looking Airsoft guns and a large knife, but he had committed no crime. He agreed to let the officers take his Airsoft guns for safe keeping and he’ll get them back later.
