RPD: Traffic Stop Leads To Stolen Guns & Drug Seizures

A traffic stop led to multiple searches and drug and weapons seizures Thursday. Just after 10AM a car with suspended registration was stopped by Redding Police near the Vagabond Inn on Bechelli Lane. The driver, 32-year-old Eric Hancock, apparently kept trying to reach for a backpack hidden under his seat. He said he was reaching for his identification, but the bag was searched and it reportedly contained two loaded handguns, almost 3 Ounces of Methamphetamine and a Half Ounce of Heroin. A search of the car also reportedly turned up a scale, packaging, brass knuckles and a significant amount of cash. Officers somehow linked Hancock to a room at the Vagabond, where 22-year-old Haley Tyrell was contacted. The neighborhood police unit got a search warrant for the room and for another associated car. Officers reported finding two more handguns, ammunition, more Meth and prescription drugs, including Morphine. Two of the guns had been reported stolen, one in Redding and another in Tacoma, Washington. Both Hancock and Tyrell were booked into jail on multiple charges.
