A child molestation defendant with prior convictions has had his preliminary hearing in Shasta County. Sheriff’s detectives and district attorney investigators had spent several weeks looking for 40-year-old Melvin Love before he was captured in the Bella Vista area April 4th. Love, a former resident of the City of Anderson, was already a registered sex offender and was arrested on a One Million Dollar warrant. He was in court Thursday and held over for trial on 5 felony counts of child molestation involving children under the age of 14, as well as enhancements for substantial sexual conduct. His trial is set for June. If convicted he could face life in prison.
