Tehama Deputies: Man Found Dead Near Red Bluff Was Stabbed By Neighbor

A man who was murdered near Red Bluff on Friday was stabbed to death by his neighbor, according to the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were called at around 11:30 to a home on Urban Lane, which is several miles west of Red Bluff. They found 55-year-old Michael Paul Jones deceased. An autopsy performed Monday confirmed that Jones died as a result of multiple stab wounds to the chest. The suspected killer is 33-year-old Jacob Daniel Oropeza. Investigators say that Oropeza was at Jones’ house when the two had an altercation that escalated until Oropeza repeatedly plunged a knife into Jones’ chest. A knife believed to be the murder weapon was found at Oropeza’s house. He’s been booked into jail for murder with bail set at $1 Million.
