Forums Planned This Week For Shasta County Candidates

There are political forums this week in two of the hottest races to face Shasta County voters. The candidates for the board of supervisors district one seat will meet Wednesday. The position is currently held by lifelong Redding resident David Kehoe, a former Redding city councilman. He’s challenged by Missy McArthur, also a former Redding city councilperson, and Joe Chimenti, the president of the Shasta Builders Exchange who has received the rarely-granted endorsement of the Redding Chamber of Commerce. That forum is organized and moderated by the League of Women Voters and will take place from 5:30 to 7:30PM Wednesday at the Redding Library.

On Thursday an organization called “Independent Like The North State” will host an online forum of congressional candidates. All seven candidates are invited to participate, but incumbent Doug LaMalfa has generally refused to take part in forums before primary elections. The forum begins at 8 O’clock Thursday evening and will be simulcast on community radio KFOI 90.9 FM. Voters can participate by sending an e-mail to [email protected] and instructions will be sent.
