Lone Stranger & Accomplice Identified, Loot Found Near Mary Lake

The Asphalt Cowboys are paying up some reward money.Aanybody racking their brains about the identity of the lone stranger and accomplice can rest up, and they can also stop turning over stones checking for the loot. Both of those mysteries have been solved. The lone stranger who committed the mock robbery of the Cornerstone Bank on California Street Monday morning was C.R. Gibbs owner and Merchants Crime Watch founder Ed Rullman. His accomplice was Shasta County District Attorney Stephanie Bridgett. The person who correctly identified them is Randy Slaughter. She’s the wife of Rocky Slaughter, who earned the reward last year. Randy will get a $300 reward. The other $300 reward will go to Linda Burke for finding the loot. Linda sleuthed out the missing loot Wednesday morning underneath a park bench on the walking trail at Mary Lake. The clues were written by a different author this year. The previous poet was longtime Asphalt Cowboy Gary Cressey, who passed away last year. The new tricky wordsmith is Cameron Middleton, a much more recent Asphalt Cowboy. The yellow shirts have more activities this week, including the kiddie pet parade at 6 O’clock Thursday evening at the Mount Shasta Mall. Kids and their pets should assemble at 5:30PM. The biggest one day annual breakfast event in the world is the pancake breakfast Friday morning from 5 to 10AM on Market Street Downtown. The rodeo parade takes place at 10 O’clock Saturday morning on downtown streets. Details are on the Asphalt Cowboys Facebook page. Details on the 70th edition of the Redding Rodeo, including ticket information, can be found at reddingrodeo.com.
