Public Hearing Planned On New South Redding Costco

The Redding Planning Commission will hold a public hearing Tuesday in order to gather comments concerning a large Costco-anchored shopping center planned for the intersection of Bechelli Lane and South Bonnyview Road. The 25 acres is currently undeveloped and is occupied by a high canopy of ghost pine, live oak and other trees. Bechelli Lane ran through the property long ago, but it’s since been reclaimed by overgrowth. The “River Crossing Marketplace” would include a 152,000 square foot Costco, including a gas station with up to 30 fueling positions and around 70,000 square feet of other businesses. The purpose of Tuesday’s meeting is only to gather comments about the draft environmental impact report. The meeting is in the city council chambers at city hall at 4 O’clock Tuesday afternoon.
