The official opening of the road through Lassen Park is this Sunday, and Saturday is the annual “Hike and Bike the Highway” event. Summertime at Lassen Volcanic National LOark means mostly snow-free hiking trails, aquatic activities at Manzanita Lake, camping at the various campgrounds, and the opening of the Kohm Yah-Mah-Nee Visitor Center and the Loomis Museum. This Saturday is a one day opportunity to enjoy a 19 mile section of the park highway from Sulphur Works to the Devastated Area without fear of motor vehicles.
