Shasta County Sheriff candidate John Greene says somebody has been stealing his campaign signs. He says he knows of 4 large 8 foot signs that have gone missing, as well as 10 of the smaller 4 foot signs. An apparent sign thief in the Happy Valley area has been captured on surveillance video and the sheriff’s office is presumably investigating that theft. The retired sheriff’s sergeant says the most puzzling theft was a large sign that was screwed into the interior arena wall at the Redding rodeo grounds venue. So far no suspects have been identified. The Shasta County Sheriff’s race has become the most bitter local race, with a lot of harsh accusations and conjecture.
