City Says It Will Delay Cannabis License Approvals 30 Days

Prospective retail cannabis outlets in Redding are going to have to wait a bit longer to learn if their applications have been approved. Thursday is the day the city had said they would announce who gets the limited number of licenses, but now they’re saying the selection process has been delayed for up to 30 days. City Manager Barry Tippin says 18 proposals were received by city staff, and some of them are more than 200 pages long. He says staff members want to be very meticulous in their review process and are busy discussing the merits of each proposal. Tippin apologizes for the delay but stresses that applicants should refrain from contacting city hall with inquiries or with additional information, unless specifically requested to do so. He assures that the delay will be no longer than a month.
